Tori Butterworth

Hi there, my name is Tori and I am the owner and head trainer of PNW K9 Training.I grew up in Seattle, WA and moved to Oregon when I started college at Oregon State University. After college I moved to Hillsboro Oregon, which is now where I call home.

While in school I studied in Innovation & Design Management, specifically in Interior Design for equine barns and facilities. Although I went to school for what feels like the opposite of animal work, my ultimate goal was to design horse barns. While that hasn’t become a reality, I have found other passions that have taken me into other professions.

I spent 4 years working as a technician assistant at 2 different animal hospitals. For 2 of those years I was in a fear free veterinary practice and have been certified in fear free veterinary practices. In 2019 I was offered a position as an exercise rider and trainer for a growing equine program. I grew to become an assistant trainer and lesson instructor, manager, and took over full time running the business. This was one of the most amazing experiences I have had prior to starting my own business.

I decided to open PNW K9 Training in the Winter of 2020, and begin my full time career in dog training. My goal in this business is to help owners achieve balance in their life with their dogs. I love teaching people the skills to become a great dog owner through structure, leadership, relationship building, and knowledge. With my help you can achieve all things with your dog. My goal for every dog who comes through my program is to be able to become confidence, balanced, and be able to go out and enjoy all that life has to offer, without causing chaos for themselves or their families. I want to share my passion for training and educating with you all.

I am continuously learning new skills and furthering my education on dog behavior and training. I am currently completing a course in animal nutrition and am on my way to become a Certified Pet Nutrition Coach, as I am extremely passionate about pet nutrition. I compete with my own personal dogs in Barn Hunt, dock diving, obedience, and trick training.

Meet Flynn

I got Flynn from a wonderful breeder in Washington to take over Mokie’s position as my demo dog when he retires as well as being my all around sports dog. Flynn is working towards his career in many sports and is currently involved in Rally Obedience, Dock Diving, Agility, Barn Hunt, and Nose Work. Flynn is a goofy, crazy, high energy little guy who brings so much joy into our life.

Meet Mokie

Tori adopted Mokie from a shelter in Eugene when he was 8 months old. Mokie came home with an abundant amount of energy, absolutely no manners, but a willingness and love for learning. Tori then began training Mokie for psychiatric and medical alert service work, but is now retired from that. Mokie not only is my demo dog but competes in barn hunt and for fun enjoys dock diving, obedience, nose work and trick training. Mokie has been through 2 leg surgeries and is earning his new found retirement, however he still joins in for occasional “jobs” I have for him.
