Board & Train programs

*Please note: We are no longer booking 2 week B&T’s unless it is for a returning client wanting a tune up. After almost 4 years of running a successful board and train program, I have found that 2 weeks simply is not enough time for the vast majority of dogs. For many dogs - especially those suffering with anxiety - it can take up to 4-6 days to fully decompress and begin really absorbing the training, which means for some dogs half of their program is spent just trying to build trust and learning to relax. Only after that is when the dogs truly begin to absorb the information and can get out in the real world for training. I do not want to operate my programs consistently concerned about running out of time if a dog does not meet the timeline we (owners, trainers, society) have set for them… Dogs are not robots, and training reliable, happy, healthy dogs who will develop skills that will last means we need the proper amount of time. I form strong relationships with all the dogs and owners I work with and take pride in helping people live better lives with their dogs which is why I aim for high quality training and am not interested in getting dogs in and out as fast as I can. I am a quality over quantity type of gal, and do not want to operate like many big training operations do. I appreciate your understanding and willingness to part with your pups just a tad bit longer so we can get them home with the best training & mindset possible!

But Why Should I Do E-Collar Training?

Here at PNW K9 Training LLC we specialize in E-collar training or, in other words, low-level remote collar training. The E-collar utilizes stimulation produced by a tens unit, the same technology used at a chiropractor to stimulate your muscles in therapy. The type of training we use is nothing like the old school training using shock collars when your dog does an unwanted behavior. The E-collar is carefully and slowly conditioned to your dog over the course of their program, pairing the low level stimulation with every known command. The e-collar stimulation becomes an extension of your voice and your commands. The remote becomes another form of pressure, just like the leash, it is intended on sending information to your dog. There are three modes on the e-collar; vibrate, tone, and stimulation. Through our training your dogs will learn a tone recall, that is, when they hear the tone, they know that means “come” with or without you calling them verbally. The way we use e-collars is one of the most humane and effective methods of training, and is not limited to any one type of dog. Through this training your dog will accomplish full off-leash reliability as well as having amazing responsiveness to your obedience commands. Can you imagine being able to allow your dog to have complete freedom and the ability to truly explore the world? To be able to trust they will always come when called and can truly become the ultimate adventure dog? That is what your dog will accomplish with their e-collar training. We want your dog to be the ultimate dog, and they deserve to have the freedom to run and play safely.

Your B&T program is the best way to jumpstart your training. Your dog is in no way “fully trained” for life after a B&T. When your dog comes home there is a lot of work needed to maintain their training. If you are dedicated to your dogs success and prepared for hard work when your dog returns, then this is the program for you. Consistency is key, if you put in 100%, you will see those results. It is normal for there to be challenges when your dog comes home, but if you maintain the rules, plan, and strategies I give you, there should be minimal regression. If you plan to go back to how your life was before training, and don’t stay consistent, the B&T may not be for you. Commitment is everything here.

I am committed to helping you continue your training after your dog goes home, which is why I include 4 FREE sessions post B&T and a lifetime of support.

Once your dog has completed their program they are able to board with me anytime so long as their training is being continued at home, join daycare, pack hikes, and more.
